To strengthen research, the Faculty is dedicated to develop a strong research culture and a working environment conducive to research productivity. To this end, we have been striving to provide various incentives for research excellence, as well as support for junior faculty members and PhD students.
- PhD Support Scheme
To nurture continuing PhD students of the Faculty of Arts in their final phase of doctoral research, so that they can produce high-quality doctoral research that will meet international standards of excellence.
Since 2012-13, the Faculty has supported 10 PhD students to undertake their doctoral research.
- Humanities Fellowship Scheme
To provide teaching relief to junior faculty members in need of research time for publication projects. Departments are asked to support the Faculty in working out teaching assignments for the recipients of the fellowship, to ensure the Fellows can be released from all teaching for at least one term.
Since its launch in 2011, seven Assistant Professors have received the fellowship and taken course relief to conduct their research.
- Publication Subvention Fund
To encourage and enhance the research profile of our faculty members and is designed to assist faculty authors in the publication of scholarly books/ monographs or academic articles in open access journals.
- Support for PhD Fellowship Promotion Trip
To offer sponsorship to the promotion trips organized by Divisions under the Faculty of Arts to promote their doctoral programmes and to recruit high quality potential PhD students.
