MINOR IN CULTURAL HERITAGE STUDIES

Anthropology now has a new minor programme that Anthropology majors can take. This programme focuses on the preservation and management of cultural heritage in Hong Kong and adjacent regions. After taking this programme, students will be able to develop their careers in museums, education (particularly liberal studies), tourism, as well as other areas related to culture. The programme is co-organized by the Department of Anthropology and the Department of History. To minor in the programme, students shall complete 15#/18* units of courses as designated by the two departments:

* Applicable to students under the new 4-year curriculum

(1) Required Courses (3 units)#

HIST2001 Historiography (Introductory) or;
HIST3460 Oral History: Methods and Practices or;
ANTH2730 Preserving Cultural Heritage or;
ANTH2760 China's Cultural Heritage

Note: One of these four courses, not counted towards the fulfillment of the requirement of Minor Programme in Cultural Heritage Studies, may be taken as an elective course counted towards the fulfillment of 12 units of elective courses listed below.

Note: One of these four courses, not counted towards the fulfillment of the requirement of Minor Programme in Cultural Heritage Studies, may be taken as an elective course counted towards the fulfillment of 12 units of elective courses listed below.

(2) Elective Courses (12 units)

Note#: Units of ANTH courses counted towards the fulfillment of the requirements of the Minor Programme in Cultural Heritage Studies should not be counted towards the fulfillment of the requirements of Major Programme in Anthropology or the Minor Programme in Anthropology. Units of HIST courses counted towards the fulfillment of the requirements of the Minor Programme in Cultural Heritage Studies should not be counted towards the fulfillment of the requirements of the Major Programme in History or the Minor Programme in History.

Students can obtain the necessary form at Registration and Examinations Section (RES). Completed form has to be first endorsed by the Department of History and then submitted to RES during the period specified by them.
