Research Scholarship on Humanistic Buddhism in East Asia/ South East Asia
This research scholarship is part of the research scheme in East Asia and South East Asia carried out by the Centre for the Study of Humanistic Buddhism (the Centre). The influence and development of Humanistic Buddhism in East and South East Asia is not hard to find, like the influence of Master Hsing-Yun in Hong Kong and Malaysia and Fo Guang Shan nuns’ contributions in promoting Humanistic Buddhism. Scholars who conduct related research topics on the development of Humanistic Buddhism in Korea and Japan and preaching experience of Humanistic Buddhism in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and other regions can apply for this scholarship.
Humanistic Buddhism in East and South East Asia includes the functions of humanistic caring, education, carrying out charitable programs and preaching. If more papers can be focused on this field and discussed in a systematical way, it will have certain benefits of facilitating the studies of Humanistic Buddhism.

- Interim Report:
During the implementation period:
1) at least 2 papers should be submitted in the first year (Chapter 1~2 of the book)
2) the awardee should participate the academic conference held by the Centre - Outcome: The book should be a high quality one. Length should be around 150,000 to 200,000 words. The Centre will invite Buddhist scholars to review and evaluate the book. After the evaluation, the book will be published. (contract of publication will be drawn up later)
