Guided Tour – Wan Chai Ghost Stories Tour
The tour guide from Hong Kong House of Stories (Blue House) have brought Cultural Management students to visit different historical sites in Wan Chai, like the former post office, Wan Chai Market and dugout etc. Through learning some folk stories from the past, students have explored more on the history and the development of Wan Chai.
Tie-Dye and Flower Pressing Workshop
With so many art lovers in the Programme, everyone was more than excited about the DIY workshop! Students were happy to learn the techniques in creating tie-dye and flower pressing art, which they can then applied them to create unique patterns on tote bags and accessories. Everyone was pleased with the result!
“Art in Focus” Seminar Series
The Society invited art administrators and artists to share with us their experience of working in different art fields, unveiling the internal operation and providing students with insights of the industry. The topics covered are broad, including opportunities and challenges of art administrators by Grace Kwok, Programme and Ticketing Officer of HKREP, Ms Mandy YIU, the Executive Director of Actors Family talking about her experience from an actress to a director, and Chan Chu Hei and Julia Mok, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Hong Kong People’s Fringe Association, sharing about the organization and management of the Hong Kong People’s Fringe Festival. The seminars were conducted in an interactive manner, during which students shared their thoughts and discussed freely with the guests under a relaxed setting.
Cultural Topics Talk Series
Five speakers were invited to share their stories in their field, including Ada Wong (Founder & Hon Chief Executive of HKICC and cultural advocate) and Katty Law (founding member of the Central & Western Concern Group and preservation activist) on cultural advocacy; Raymond Wong (Managing Director of CCDC) and Winona Chan (Board member of HKALPS and consultant in art management) on brand management of art; Lau Kwok Wai (Executive Director of CACHe) on conservation. The series gained support from students and external guests. The speakers’ sharings were found meaningful and inspiring!
Start-of-semester Gathering
As a kick-start of the new semester, the gathering was a great occasion for teachers, freshers and other students to get together and enjoy the time of reunion. The gathering was held at an on-campus restaurant which features a bar, performance stage and a lounge for karaoke fun. There was a good party vibe where everyone enjoyed the games, had fun at the lucky draw and received red packets as a blessing for good academic result in the coming year.
Farewell Party
For the first time ever, our Programme has had graduate students! To celebrate the special moment, a farewell party was held to wish them a bright journey ahead. Students had an enjoyable night playing lucky draw and sharing roasted suckling pig, along with our former Programme Director Professor Oscar Ho and Lecturer Dr. Fanny Chung. A touching sharing session brought the night to a joyful ending.
