Cultural Landscape and Historical Heritage in Korea

Our Programme is organizing a 6-Day Korea Cultural Exchange Tour (首爾、光州) on 17-22 May 2024, which will be led by Prof. PENG Peng. During the tour, students will be offered the opportunities to explore the cultural development in Korea through visiting various renowned cultural & historical sites in Seoul & Gwangju, including the Asia Culture Complex, the Street of Art in Gwangju, 5.18 Liberty Park, Seoul Arts Center, National Museum of Korea in Seoul, etc., as well as getting the chance to have academic exchange with local cultural practitioners so as to gain more insights & reflection on the cultural development in Hong Kong.

Japan-Tale of Ancient Capitals

Our Programme is organizing a 6-Day Japan Cultural Exchange Tour with the focus of “日本古都雙城記 Japan-Tale of Ancient Capital” on 7-12 May 2023, which will be led by Prof. Pedith Chan. During the tour, students will be offered the opportunities to explore the ancient side of Japan through visiting various historical & archaeological sites, public museums, cultural performances/ workshops in Nara, Uji & Kyoto, including Ishibutai Ancient Tomb, Byodoin, Nijo Castle, Sanjusangendo, Maiko Performance etc., as well as getting the chance to have academic exchange with local cultural practitioners so as to gain more insights & reflection on the antiquities & heritage management, and cultural development in Hong Kong.

Europe Cultural Exchange Tour

Our Programme is organizing a Europe Cultural Exchange Tour with the focus on Art & History on 9-19 May 2020, which will be led by Prof. Pedith Chan. During the tour, students will be offered the opportunities to broadening their professional and cultural horizons as they will be offering chances to apply the knowledge gained in CUMT courses to situations outside Hong Kong, and enhancing their professionalism in the management of cultural institutions and heritage preservation through direct study of how this is done in Berlin and Prague.

Designed thematically, the itinerary includes visiting world-class museums, theatres and heritage sites in Berlin and Prague, such as Jewish Museum (Berlin), Topography or Terror (Berlin), The Pergamon Museum (Berlin), The House of World Culture (Berlin), National Library (Prague), Museum of Decorative Arts (Prague), Castle Vysehrad (Prague), Mucha Museum (Prague), Prague Castle (Prague), etc. During the tour, students will also be provided with opportunities to interact with experts from famous cultural and heritage establishments in Berlin and Prague so as to stimulate new ways of thinking about art, culture and heritage, which will be of significant benefit to students of Cultural Management.

7-Day Japan Cultural Exchange Tour on “體驗日本文化藝術之魅力”

During the tour, students will be offered the opportunities to explore the cultural development in Japan through visiting various renowned cultural & historical sites, public & private museums in Tokyo & Yokohama, including teamLab, Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, Yokohama Chinatown, The Tokyo National Art Center, Edo-Tokyo Museum, Katsushika, 1-2 private museums in Tokyo etc., as well as getting the chance to have academic exchange with local cultural practitioners so as to gain more insights & reflection on the cultural development in Hong Kong.

3-Day Cultural Exchange Tour on “當代藝術建設”

Our Programme is organizing a 3-Day Cultural Exchange Tour with the focus of “當代藝術建設” on 22-24 May 2019 to Mainland China, which will be led by Prof. Isaac Leung. During the tour, students will be offered the opportunities to explore the news arts & cultural establishments in China in recent years through visiting various art fields, cultural sites & museums in Shenzhen & Guangzhou, including OCAT Shenzhen (OCAT深圳館), Hua Art Museum (華•美術館), Design Society (設計互聯), Vitamin Creative Space (維他命藝術空間), Red Tory (紅專廠), 2 Plus Museum (深圳當代藝術與城市規劃館), etc., as well as getting the chance to have academic exchange with local cultural practitioners so as to gain more insights & reflection on the cultural development in Hong Kong.

7-Day Japan Study Tour with the theme “城市與山林中的藝術”

此次考察主題為「探討日本藝術祭及文化產業的發展」,透過深入了解日本鄉郊的藝術祭及東京的博物館,反思香港文化藝術的發展。日本全國現時約有十個大型的雙年展或三年展。歐美的雙年展,旨在透過展出現代藝術發展創意城市,因此選址均集中於大城市,其中包括威尼斯。有別於歐美,日本針對社會的需要發展出獨有的藝術祭,選址集中於人口老化、交通不便、人口稀少的鄉村或小島,其中如新潟縣的越後妻有大地藝術祭及瀨戶內海的瀨戶內藝術祭最為著名。日本藝術祭透過現展出當代藝術品提升鄉郊地區的文化氣息,帶動經濟和人口流動以及振興日漸老化的農村。三年一度的越後妻有大地藝術祭始於2000年,以農田為展場,透過藝術作品,拉近人與自然的距離,藉著社區的介入,「建立一個新的令社區持續更新的模式去傳遞投入自然的理想」。自創辦以來,越後妻有大地藝術祭的概念在亞洲帶來顯著的影響,如台灣的蕭壠國際當代藝術節、中國的碧山計劃等。近年香港政府提倡公共及社區藝術發展,藝術推廣辦事署亦藉著參與2018越後妻有大地藝術祭向日本取經。另外,是次考察亦會參觀東京著名的公立和私人博物館,透過比較藝術祭和典型的藝術機構,反思藝術文化如何服務不同的群體和回應社會的需要。
