[New Course info] CUMT2002 Language and Practice of Cultural Management — 2nd term, 2021-22
Course Description
With special emphasis on the practical perspectives of cultural management, the course looks into a wide range of critical sides of cultural management related issues. It covers several major areas including the cultural and social implications of cultural institution and their dynamic interaction with contemporary society, mode of governance and operation of different types of cultural institutions, basic administrative and technical skills in planning and implementing various types of cultural programmes. Moreover, other major areas concerning professional ethics in arts and culture, social responsibilities and responsiveness to community needs are also covered in the course. This course also aims to help students build a foundation for future career development and further specialized studies in arts and culture.
Highlights
-The course teacher will invite cultural leaders and/or outstanding practitioners with substantial achievements in arts and culture to share their precious industrial or artistic experiences.
-The course teacher will arrange substantial experiential learning for the students, including fieldtrips to cultural institutions, performances and other cultural engagements.
