The CUHK Faculty of Arts hosted the 2022-2023 Outstanding Teaching Award & Dean's List Presentation Ceremony on 23 March 2024 (Saturday) to celebrate academic excellence and teaching achievements.
Professor Max Xiaobing Tang, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, delivered a warm welcome address, expressing gratitude to all guests, faculty, and award recipients for attending one of the most significant and joyous events for the Faculty. Professor Tang extended heartfelt congratulations to the 22 teachers who received outstanding teaching awards and the over 400 students who made it to the Dean's List. He highlighted the Faculty's commitment to nurturing future generations, striving for academic excellence, offering diverse programme curricula, and maintaining excellent teaching quality.
The Faculty was honored to have Professor Harold Kar-leung Mok, Emeritus Professor from the Department of Fine Arts, as the Guest of Honour at the ceremony. Professor Mok congratulated the teaching faculty and encouraged students to keep learning and thrive in today's rapidly changing world. Professor Cheng Chung-yi from the Department of Philosophy, representing the teaching awardees, shared insightful perspectives on creating a dynamic learning environment that empowers students to excel in their academic pursuits.
During the ceremony, student representatives Ariel Wan (Year 3) from the Department of English and Coco Lam, a graduate from the MA in Music, shared their reflections. Ariel encouraged fellow students to actively engage in learning and become their own storytellers to pursue a brighter future. Coco emphasised the values of resilience and community service, urging students and graduates to participate in serving society.
