With the Faculty of Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) as one of its co-organiser, the Hong Kong Poetry Festival Foundation (HKPFF) will launch Xi Xi ·Spring Vista: International Poetry Nights in Hong Kong Series in March 2023.
Xi Xi (1937-2022) was one of the most influential contemporary Hong Kong authors. She devoted her whole life to the writing of Hong Kong, and her works have drawn world’s attention to Hong Kong literature.
The Hong Kong Poetry Festival Foundation holds five in-person and virtual activities under the program title of “Xi Xi ∙ Spring Vista” in March 2023 as part of the International Poetry Nights in Hong Kong series. The in-person activities in Hong Kong will be recorded and streamed on Ifengculture and other platforms. A number of international and local scholars, translators, authors, and artists will join together to celebrate Xi Xi’s literary works. These five activities include “An Exhibition of Correspondences between Xi Xi and Chinese Writers”; “Xi Xi and the World”; “Xi Xi and Translation”; “The Museum of Innocence – In Memory of Xi Xi”; “Xi Xi ∙ Music and Poetry Night.” The Music and Poetry Night will feature a chamber opera Women Like Us, which is based on short stories by Xi Xi.
We strive to contribute our event to maximizing Xi Xi’s literary influence in Hong Kong and the world. And we invite you to commemorate this great Hong Kong writer whose literature anticipates a future of hope for the city.
