Our department offers both taught (MA) and research (MPhil & PhD) programmes for students who would like to pursue further studies in the discipline.
The MA programme is a taught degree designed for people from various backgrounds who would like to acquire anthropological training for professional development, further degrees, or simply broadening of their horizons. Students will obtain knowledge of anthropological theories and develop basic research skills. An undergraduate degree in anthropology is not required.
The MPhil and PhD programmes are research degrees that provide rigorous yet flexible training for students with specific research interests. Each student works closely with a supervisor and two other committee members to develop a research proposal, conduct research, and write a thesis that will make an original contribution to anthropology. Current and past research students have engaged in a wide range of both anthropological and archaeological research projects in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, and the African continent.
