My research interests are environmental studies and multispecies ethnography. For my MA thesis, I explored the concept of “wildness” in the context of Asian elephant conservation activities in southwestern China, arguing that “wildness” is not a fixed characteristic of the animal itself but rather a vague and, in some ways, paradoxical concept – simultaneously a concept of nature that is not/was not touched by humans, a state co-created by humans and animals, and a form of multispecies cooperation.
