My research interest lies in the intersection of bureaucracy, property, and agriculture. I am also interested in knowledge production, both as a research subject matter and as self-reflection upon my own fieldwork experiences.
My dissertation project takes Nepal’s recent policies and laws regarding more systematic arable land management as a starting point, to examine the public discourses and practices regarding enhancing domestic agricultural productivity in Nepal. I am particularly interested in the tensions between domestic agriculture development and the phenomenon of overseas out-migration that has long deeply shaped Nepali society.
