Anthropology has taught me the value of contextualizing and particularizing social phenomena across cultural milieus. I chose to pursue an MPhil at the department of Anthropology, CUHK in hopes to relativize my own Asian/American lens in order to better understand individual lived experiences and cultural practices. Studying anthropology propelled my current research interests in transnational migration, ethnicity, globalization, identity, gender and sexuality. My current research explores the intimate exchanges between foreign expatriate men and female migrant workers in Wan Chai’s bar district.
