The Art of CUHK 2016 (Part I)

Spring leaves the aroma behind and summer arrives, bringing her unique vitality. It is the time when the passion of art contagiously spreads in Hong Kong through a series of world renowned art fairs and exhibitions. As a youthful part of the local art scene, students of the Department of Fine Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong are vigorously preparing for “The Art of CUHK 2016”.

Similar to previous years, “The Art of CUHK 2016” provides a platform for students to exercise their autonomy: the formation and structure of the exhibition committee, the work of administration, curation, publication, finding sponsorship and the set up of the exhibition venue are all coordinated by the students. Furthermore, public seminars are held to promote the ambience of academic discussion, in which arts professionals are invited to share their experience in curation and arts education.

“The Art of CUHK 2016” offers successional exhibitions in two parts. Part I includes BA Graduate Exhibition, Under-graduate Exhibition and Invitational Exhibition which will run from 4th June til 29th June; Part II includes MFA & MA Graduate Exhibition and Postgraduate Exhibition scheduled for 7th July to 5th August. “The Art of CUHK 2016” is a sight of the orchestration of artistic ideas and experiments students have to offer after a year of learning and practice, as well as insightful discussions and collaboration. Through the exhibits, the artists respond to voices from within and reflect upon the progression of the society.
