“Others¹⁹” – Master of Arts in Fine Arts Graduation Exhibition (Contemporary Art Practice)
The Contemporary Art Practice’s graduation exhibition is titled “Others¹⁹”, with the numbers 1 and 9 respectively representing a start and an end. As the end of this school year is approaching, 19 students are about to embark on a new beginning. They have become more focused on individual transformation and growth so as to prepare for the new journey. Through the language of art, they seek to display the courses and exploration of the past two years of learning while demonstrating each of their distinctiveness. They are illustrating their own new chapter by overturning pre-existing perceptions and surpassing past experiences, be those in terms of art or life. The 19 of them take on a variety of creative forms to reveal their personal transformation, values in life, and prospects for the future.

“Blooming Life, Nurturing the Future” – Master of Arts in Fine Arts Graduation Exhibition (Chinese Art Practice)

The theme of Chinese Art Practice’s graduation exhibition is “Blooming Life, Nurturing the Future”. It represents the determination of plants as they firmly root themselves and strive to grow, symbolising the act of bringing life to paper with brushstrokes. Meanwhile, “Flowers” symbolise femininity. As a group of female students of the Chinese Art Practice, they have diligently studied and accumulated artistic knowledge, infusing their works with philosophical insights and emotional warmth, constantly seeking breakthroughs on the foundation they have built. Responding to the profound spirits of traditional Chinese art, they create artworks that are as beautiful and vibrant as blossoming flowers. In life and art, flowers symbolise new beginnings. As they strive to grow and seek to blossom, the fallen flowers become nutrients, nourishing future flowers and fruits, ensuring the continuation of life. This exhibition serves as a platform for students to share their artistic journeys with the audience. Each artwork on display reflects their dedication, growth, and personal narratives throughout the studies. From traditional ink paintings to contemporary mixed media installations, the exhibition showcases a diverse range of artistic styles, techniques, and ideologies.

“3 Mins and 60 Sec” – Master of Arts in Fine Arts Year 1 Exhibition (Contemporary Art Practice)

The theme of the Contemporary Art Practice’s Year 1 Exhibition is “3 Mins and 60 Sec”. From the moment you approach an artwork to the moment your eyes move away, the average time invested is only fifteen seconds. Have you ever thought about how an artwork resonates with you in that brief fifteen seconds? Immerse yourself in this exhibition, where 16 of the MAFA Year 1 students present their innovative works. With their diverse backgrounds, these artists merge innovation and collision, offering insights ranging from everyday anecdotes to profound reflections on life. Allow the profound power of these artworks to touch your soul, transcending fleeting moments. We earnestly desire that these sixteen pieces will bring you thoughts and inspiration, inviting you to take a pause and enjoy the exhibition for more than just 3 minutes and 16 seconds.

“The Mystery”– Master of Arts in Fine Arts Year 1 Exhibition (Chinese Art Practice)

Be mesmerized in “The Mystery” exhibition, where the essence of Chinese ink painting and calligraphy unfolds in a wondrous tapestry of the purest depths. Through the exploration of ink movement, a symphony of contemporary variations and boundary-defying interactions weaves a fresh tapestry of Eastern aesthetics. Step forth into a realm where time dissolves, intimately entwined with abstraction, as the Art pieces guide you on a transcendent journey across the ages. Behold the sublime transcendence that the rhythm imparts upon the soul, as each piece showcases a unique expression and reveals the kaleidoscope of Chinese art, steeped in tradition yet embracing modernity. Fifteen extraordinary students from the first-year Master of Art in Fine Art breathe life into an Eastern artistic kingdom at Hui Gallery with waves of creativity.
