inaugural Director of Hong Kong Palace Museum

 

Dr Louis NG is the inaugural Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum. He is a distinguished historian and museum professional with over 30 years of experience in museum management and heritage conservation. He was the founding Director of the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence, which opened in 2000. He headed the Antiquities and Monuments Office from 2002 to 2006 leading the archaeological and built heritage conservation in Hong Kong. Before joining the Hong Kong Palace Museum, he was Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR Government, where he oversaw the department’s culture-related institutions such as museums, performing arts centres, visual arts centres and public libraries. He obtained his PhD in history from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Currently he is also an Honorary Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
