The Rotunda, Exchange Square, Central, Hong Kong
In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the Friends of the Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) presents the ‘Nurturing Creativity’ exhibition and fundraiser auction, showcasing 35 works of art by recent graduates and masters of the CUHK Fine Arts Department. The exhibition pays tribute to the University’s seminal role in the development of artists in Hong Kong.
Artworks in a range of media, from contemporary ink to photography, reflect the variety of skills taught in the CUHK Fine Arts Department. Highlights include works by established Hong Kong artists such as Wucius WONG, Wilson SHIEH, LEUNG Kui Ting, HO Sin Tung, LAM Tung Pang, CHOW Chun Fai and Kacey WONG, as well as works by emerging artists including Zaffer CHAN, WONG Yee Ki, LIU Man Kun and KONG Chun Hei.
The exhibition will take place at The Rotunda, Hong Kong and will be open to the general public from 19 September to 7 October 2016, thanks to the support of Hongkong Land. 30 pieces of artwork will be available for auction via www.paddle8.com/Friends-CUHK during the exhibition, thanks to the support of online auction house Paddle8. A live auction of the remaining 5 selected artworks will be conducted at a Gala Dinner on 10 November 2016.
All proceeds raised from the auction go to support the artists, the Friends annual student awards and post-graduate scholarships for students in the Fine Arts Department, and the Art Museum’s art education, outreach programme and the acquisition fund.
The ‘Nurturing Creativity’ exhibition came together with the generous support of the Dr. George and Maisie Choa Charitable Foundation, ACEPRO Hong Kong Limited and Polytrade Paper Corporation Limited.
