This research attempts to discuss the function and development of bronze mirrors from Song Dynasties (AD 960-1279). Bronze mirrors with carvings of immortals and historic classics were popular in the period of Song, Liao and Jin dynasties, while the implications and functions of these mirrors have not been discussed thoroughly. Carvings of immortals and historic classics found on bronze mirrors are narrowly understood as “a reflection of the prevailing religions during Song Dynasty”. Therefore, the development and the context of this type of bronze mirrors will yet to be discovered.
