Dining at CUHK

With over 30 canteens and eateries on campus, you may have a hard time deciding on which one to choose. Most restaurants on campus serve a mix of Chinese, Asian, and Western dishes, ranging from coffee, sandwiches, salads, noodles, rice bowls, and burgers to desserts – there is even a full-fledged Chinese restaurant that serves dim sum lunch. Vegetarian options are available at every restaurant. Halal food can be found at the Kabab restaurant in the Li Wai Chun Building.

Dining Downtown

There are more restaurants in Hong Kong per square foot than anywhere else on earth, so a guide is not so necessary. But just a few words may be useful. The closest large-scale shopping complex to CUHK is the New Town Plaza, Shatin, where there is an array of restaurants of various types and nationalities, and a department store (YATA).

Various shops can also be found in Tsim Sha Tsui. Ashley Road is a good restaurant street, with 15 or so different places, from Chinese to Japanese to Korean to Southeast Asian to Italian.  For adventurous types, Chungking Mansions, 36-44 Nathan Road, beckons: you will be mobbed by touts as you approach, and just follow any one of them for a good cheap Indian meal.
