Founded in 1960, the Chung Chi Choir mainly consists of students from the music department from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and has been affiliated to the department since its foundation. The aims of the Choir are to offer choral training and performance experience to its members, as well as to introduce and promote contemporary choral music and repertoire unfamiliar to the local audience. The Choir has participated in many noteworthy choral events in Hong Kong, such as the rehabilitation fund raising concert for the Sichuan Earthquake victims. It also performs at various significant college events and festivals, with an average of two concerts per year. Having built up a wide range of choral repertoire throughout the years, Chung Chi Choir has organized charity concerts with the Chung Chu College Chaplain’s Office and collaborated with distinguished music parties. Currently, the Chung Chi Choir is recruiting new members for the 2024 autumn semester. All CUHK students and exchange students, be it music major or not, are eligible to apply.
