The programme specifically aims to provide advanced academic and practical instructions on music and its broader cultural contexts to equip students with the critical skills and acumen they need in order to thrive in their future endeavors. It is designed not only for individuals who currently work in the music field but also music lovers with strong musical backgrounds from other professions.

MASTER OF ARTS IN MUSIC FELLOWSHIP

The amount of each Master of Arts in Music Fellowship is $100,000. Awardees must not receive any other fellowships, scholarships, or monetary awards during their studies of the Programme. The Programme Admission Panel will nominate outstanding applicants for the fellowship after conducting admission interviews.

 


MASTER OF ARTS IN MUSIC ADMISSION SCHOLARSHIP

Starting from the academic year 2024-25, the MA in Music Programme will launch an Admission Scholarship Scheme for outstanding applicants in full recognition of their talents. There will be ten awards each year. The amount of the scholarship will be $10,000 each. The Programme Admission Panel will nominate outstanding applicants for the scholarship after conducting admission interviews. Please note that awardees of the UGC Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programme Fellowship are not eligible for the Admission Scholarship.

ADMISSIONS
  1. Applicants should have:
    1. graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor's degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class or achieving an average grade of not lower than "B"; or
    2. completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
  2. Applicants must also meet the "English Language Proficiency Requirement" as stipulated by the Graduate School. Please refer to the Graduate School website for details.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applications should be made via the CUHK Graduate School website.

In addition to supporting documents as stipulated by the Graduate School, applicants should submit a Personal Statement of 300-500 words (in English). The use of ChatGPT or any other AI tools to write the personal statement is strictly prohibited. Please upload your personal statement to the Online Application System as one of the supporting documents.  

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
