This talk provides a brief introduction to the language service provider Transing Translations, founded by two CUHK alumnae in 2017, and reveals the recent market trends in the translation and interpretation industry across different sectors. It is based on Ms. Zhang’s over 10-year exposure to the translation market and her close observation of the implementation of more than a thousand localisation-related projects. Full of practical illustrations and summaries, with a range of case studies, the talk presents the ability of professional translators and interpreters to help drive inclusivity and cross-cultural understanding by connecting audiences in their own languages. Following an in-depth exploration of Transing’s recent works and daily workflows, the talk also proposes a few tips offering perspectives on key dimensions of starting a career in the translation and interpretation industry.

Ms. Sheila Z.X. ZHANG
Ms. Zhang is the Co-founder and Managing Director at Transing Translations Hong Kong. She runs a team providing on-site and remote conference interpreting services and written translation services for over 30 languages. Ms.. Zhang has created a network of specialist linguists that could be called upon according to specific needs. She is a strong entrepreneurship professional with an M.A. in Translation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and an M.Sc. in E-Business from Newcastle University Business School.
